How to chain Amazon's free trials: a four-month calendar
In short
The free trials of Amazon Prime, Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and Audible last 30 days each. If you start them one at a time, instead of all at once, you get 120 days of services without paying, worth €37.96. The rule is simple: one trial at a time, a reminder on day 23 of each one and a decision before you start the next.

Full guide: How to shop and save
| Trial | Days | Reminder to decide | Value of one month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime | 1 to 30 | Day 23 | €4.99 |
| Amazon Music Unlimited | 31 to 60 | Day 53 | €12.99 |
| Kindle Unlimited | 61 to 90 | Day 83 | €9.99 |
| Audible | 91 to 120 | Day 113 | €9.99 |
Why chain them instead of starting them all at once
If you switch on all four trials on the same day, you have 30 days to try everything. Nobody watches series, listens to music properly, reads two books and finishes an audiobook in a month. You will end up not knowing what you would really use.
If you line them up, each service gets its full month. It is the same 30 days per trial, but they add up to 120 on the calendar. And you decide on each one with data, not in a hurry.
What the four trials are worth
Adding up the monthly fee of each service, the four trials are worth €37.96. It is our own calculation with the prices checked in October 2026.
- Amazon Prime: €4.99.
- Amazon Music Unlimited: €12.99.
- Kindle Unlimited: €9.99.
- Audible: €9.99.
It is not a fortune. The real value lies elsewhere: in knowing, before you pay, which of those €37.96 a month are worth it for you.
The order we recommend
- Amazon Prime, because delivery pays off from the first order.
- Amazon Music Unlimited, which can be tried at any time of day.
- Kindle Unlimited, which needs two or three books already chosen.
- Audible, which needs a habit and gains from being left until last.
The order is not compulsory. If books are your thing, start with Kindle Unlimited. What matters is not overlapping.
A calendar with real dates
An example for someone starting on 1 November 2026. Each trial begins on the day the previous one ends.
| Trial | Starts | Reminder to decide | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime | 1 November | 24 November | 1 December |
| Amazon Music Unlimited | 1 December | 24 December | 31 December |
| Kindle Unlimited | 31 December | 23 January | 30 January |
| Audible | 30 January | 22 February | 1 March |
The dates follow the same rule as our free trial calculator: start date plus 30. Cancel the day before to be safe. With your own date, the calculator gives you yours.
The five rules so that no charge slips through
- Only one trial active at a time.
- On the day you start, set a reminder on your phone for day 23.
- On day 23, decide: you keep it or you cancel it.
- Do not start the next one until you have decided on the previous one.
- Keep the confirmation email for each cancellation.
The rule people skip most is the second. The reminder is set on day one, not “when I remember”. We go into it in how to cancel a free trial on time.
What to try each month
Month 1: Amazon Prime
Place the orders you already had planned and note how many would have paid for delivery. Watch something on Prime Video. By day 23 you will have done the sum. The guide is the 30-day plan for the Prime trial.
Month 2: Amazon Music Unlimited
Use only this service for the month. Rebuild your playlists, download music and try it without coverage. If you are already a Prime member, compare it with the included music: see Music Prime or Music Unlimited.
Month 3: Kindle Unlimited
Before you start, look up five books you want to read and see how many are in the catalogue. If you read two or more in the month, it pays off. The method is in is Kindle Unlimited worth it?.
Month 4: Audible
Choose a story that is easy to follow and always listen at the same time of day. With half an hour a day you finish an audiobook in about three weeks.
The Prime Student variant
If you study or are aged 18 to 24, the Prime Student trial lasts 90 days instead of 30. The chain becomes 180 days: three months of Prime Student and one month of each of the other three services.
In that case the four trials are worth €40.44: three months of Prime Student at €2.49 and one month of each of the others.
The three-month Audible variant
Audible offers a 3-month trial, instead of 30 days, to Prime members. If after the first month you decide to stay with Prime, leave Audible until last: the offer page will tell you whether your account can take the three months.
What happens when you cancel a trial
Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. What changes from one service to another is whether you keep access until the last day or lose it at once. The cancellation screen says so before you confirm: read it.
If you keep access, you can cancel on day 23 and go on using the service for another week. If not, wait until the day before the last day.
What not to do
- Starting a trial “for one order” and forgetting it.
- Chaining without deciding: you will end up paying four fees.
- Opening several accounts to repeat trials: it breaks the terms.
- Leaving the card without funds thinking that cancels it. It does not.
And after the four months
At the end you will have an answer for each service. The usual outcome is to keep one or two, not all four. Having them all costs €445.54 a year, with Prime on its annual plan, as we work out in the subscription comparison.

The control sheet
A chained calendar is held together by a four-line note. Copy it to your phone on day one.
| Trial | Started on | Reminder on | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime | |||
| Music Unlimited | |||
| Kindle Unlimited | |||
| Audible |
The decision column is the one that matters. You fill it in on reminder day with one word: “keep” or “cancel”. If it is empty, do not start the next trial.
What a slip costs
Forgetting a cancellation is not serious, but it has a price. This is what is charged if a trial renews without your having decided.
- Amazon Prime: €4.99.
- Amazon Music Unlimited: €12.99.
- Kindle Unlimited: €9.99.
- Audible: €9.99.
- All four at once: €37.96 a month.
If it happens, cancel as soon as you see it. With Prime, if you have not used any benefit since the charge, Amazon says it refunds the fee. The detail is in how to cancel Amazon Prime.
The three questions for day 23
- How many times have I used it in these three weeks?
- Would I have missed it if I did not have it?
- Would I pay the fee for what I have used?
If all three answers are weak, cancel. If you hesitate on one, work out what each use has cost you at the fee you would pay.
If you are already a customer of one of them
The chain gets shorter, and that is fine. Someone who already pays for Prime starts at the second link and has an advantage: Audible offers them a three-month trial instead of one. In that case the chain is music, reading and audiobooks, with up to 150 days in total.
As a couple or a family
Trials go by account, not by household. If there are two of you, you do not both need to take them at the same time: one person trying each service is enough to know whether it interests you. For music there is also a plan for several people, which we explain in the Amazon Music Unlimited family plan.
Prime Video channels, a separate chain
Many Prime Video channels have their own free trial. The same rule applies: one at a time, and unsubscribe the day you finish what you wanted to watch. Each channel is cancelled separately.
What happens after each decision
On day 23 there are only two ways out, and both are fine if you chose them.
- “Keep”: you do nothing. The trial becomes a subscription and you start paying the fee. Note the charge day.
- “Cancel”: you end the subscription that same day and keep the email. There is no charge.
Two different endings for the same chain
Two people follow the same 120-day chain. The first decides every day 23 and keeps Prime, on the annual plan, and Kindle Unlimited. They pay €169.78 a year for two services they use.
The second notes nothing down and lets all four renew. They pay €37.96 a month, €455.52 a year, for four services of which they use two. The difference between the two, €285.74 a year, is what setting four reminders on your phone is worth.
In short
- Four 30-day trials, one after another: 120 days.
- Combined value: €37.96.
- With Prime Student, the chain reaches 180 days.
- A reminder on day 23 of each trial.
- Never two trials at once.
Frequently asked questions about how to chain the free trials
Can Amazon's free trials be chained?
Yes. They are separate services, so you can start the trial of each one whenever you like, one after another.
How many free days do Amazon's trials add up to?
120 days if you chain those of Prime, Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and Audible, at 30 days each.
What are Amazon's four free trials worth?
€37.96, which is the sum of one month of each service at October 2026 prices.
Why not start all the Amazon trials at once?
Because 30 days is not enough to use four services properly. Chained, each one gets its full month.
In what order should I take the Amazon trials?
Prime first, for delivery; then Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and, last, Audible.
When should each free trial be cancelled?
It is best to decide on day 23 of each trial, with a week to spare before it renews.
What happens if I do not cancel an Amazon free trial?
When the 30 days end it becomes a paid subscription and the first fee is charged.
Does cancelling an Amazon free trial cost money?
No. Cancelling during the trial is free.
Do I lose access if I cancel a trial before it ends?
It depends on the service. The cancellation screen shows until what day you keep access.
Do I need a card for Amazon's free trials?
Yes. They all ask for a valid payment method because they renew when they end.
How long is the Prime Student free trial?
90 days. With it, the chain of trials reaches 180 days.
Does Audible have a longer trial for Prime members?
Yes. Audible offers a 3-month trial to Prime members, instead of 30 days.
Can I repeat an Amazon free trial?
Trials are meant for new customers of each service. Each offer page says whether your account qualifies.
Can I open another account to repeat the trials?
It is not advisable: it breaks Amazon's terms of use.
Does Prime Video have a separate trial?
No. Prime Video is part of Amazon Prime and is tried with the same 30 days.
How much does it cost to keep all the services afterwards?
€445.54 a year with Prime on its annual plan, or €37.96 a month with everything paid monthly.
How do I work out the dates of my trials?
With the free trial calculator on this site: you enter the start date and it gives you the end date of each one.
Is it legal to chain free trials?
Yes. Each trial is an Amazon offer for a different service and you use it only once.
Which service should I try first if I read a lot?
Kindle Unlimited. The order is up to you: what matters is not having two trials active at once.
What do I do on day 23 of each trial?
Decide on the basis of what you have used: if it pays off, let it continue; if not, cancel it and keep the confirmation email.
