What we mean by fast delivery
Fast delivery means receiving an order in one or two days, or on the same day you place it. On Amazon.es that speed is tied mostly to the Prime subscription, though not exclusively: some products arrive quickly without it, and others take a week even if you are a member. What decides the time is each specific product, not a general promise.
One-day delivery
This is the best-known Prime benefit. According to Amazon's June 2025 announcement, it applies at no extra cost to two million items. To know whether a product has it, look at the date beside the buy button: if it says it arrives tomorrow, it does. It does not depend on the price of the product but on its being in a nearby warehouse and shipped by Amazon.
Delivery in two or three days
Millions more products have free delivery in two or three days for Prime members. In practice, this is the time frame for most purchases. For nearly everything that is not urgent, the difference between one and three days changes nothing, and it is worth remembering that before ruling out a product just because it does not arrive tomorrow.
Same-day delivery
Same-day delivery is available in 15 cities for eligible products from €29, according to the same announcement. You have to order before a cut-off time, which is shown on the product page. If you live in one of those cities, the option appears automatically at checkout. If it does not appear, the product or your address does not qualify.
Pickup points
Amazon Hub points are automatic lockers and shops where you can collect the parcel instead of receiving it at home. They are available to any customer. They do not speed up shipping, but they avoid the commonest problem: the courier arriving when nobody is in.
For someone who is out at work all day, a pickup point near the office is often the quickest way to have the parcel in hand.
Without Prime: standard delivery
Without a subscription, standard delivery is free above a minimum amount, which Amazon shows at checkout. Below it you pay delivery charges. Times tend to be somewhat longer than with Prime, although many products arrive within a few days all the same. If you are just short of the minimum, it pays to wait until you need something else rather than add something you did not want.
How to know when it arrives: three factors
The delivery date appears on each product page before you buy and depends on three things: your postcode, who ships the product and the time at which you order. Two offers for the same item can have different dates. Always check it with your address selected, because the date you see with another address is no use to you.
Who sells and who ships
Amazon.es carries products sold and shipped by Amazon, products from other businesses that Amazon ships from its warehouses, and products shipped by the seller itself. The first two cases usually have the short Prime times. In the third, the seller sets the time and the charges. The page says which it is beside the buy button. We explain it in detail in how to read a product page.
The time you order
Each product has a cut-off time for leaving that same day. The page usually shows it as a countdown along the lines of "order within the next three hours". An order placed at nine in the evening can arrive a day later than the same order placed at midday. If something is urgent, order in the morning.
Your address
The shortest times are found in the big cities and their surroundings, close to the fulfilment centres. In rural areas, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, times and conditions can be different. There is no way to know in general: you have to look at the product date with your address. If you move, check how the times change before assuming everything will arrive as before.
Four ways to receive sooner
- Order in the morning. Orders have a cut-off time to leave the same day.
- Choose products shipped by Amazon, which usually have the shortest times.
- Use a pickup point if you will not be at home: it avoids a second delivery attempt.
- Do not mix a fast item with a slow one in the same order if you need the first urgently.
Grouping or splitting shipments
When an order has several items with different times, at checkout you can usually choose between receiving them together, in fewer parcels, or separately as they become available. Together means fewer shipments and less packaging, but everything waits for the slowest. Separately, the urgent item arrives first. Choose according to what you need and do not leave the default option unexamined.
Sending a gift to another address
If the parcel is for someone else, add their address and check the delivery date with it, not with yours. Mark the order as a gift so that the price does not appear on the packing slip. And let the recipient know that something is on its way, even if you do not say what: an unexpected parcel can easily go uncollected.
Bulky products
Furniture, large appliances and heavy items usually have their own times and delivery systems, sometimes by appointment. Do not count on one-day delivery for them even if you have Prime. The page gives the estimated date and, in some cases, whether delivery includes carrying the product up to your home. Read it before buying, because this is where people go wrong most often.
Deliveries at busy times of year
At Christmas, on Black Friday and during the big sales, times lengthen and pickup points fill up. Place important orders with a week's margin over the date shown on the page. For presents, check on the page itself whether the product says it arrives before the date you need, and do not assume your area's usual time holds in those weeks.
Tracking
Every order has tracking in your account, in the orders section, with the status of the parcel and the estimated date. On the day of delivery a time window is usually given. Turn on the app's notifications if you want to know when it is close. It is more reliable than waiting by the door.
If you will not be at home
You have three ways out: change the delivery to a pickup point, leave instructions for the courier or send the order to another address where someone will be in. Delivery instructions are added to the address and are useful for indicating, for example, an entrance or a time of day. Decide when you place the order: changing it once the parcel is out for delivery is harder.
When a delivery is late
Tracking shows the new estimated date. If the delivery does not arrive, Amazon's customer service can be contacted from the same order screen. Global Store Afiliados has no access to your orders and cannot intervene in them: any problem is resolved with Amazon from your account.
Speed versus saving
Receiving tomorrow is convenient, but it is not always the best choice. If what you are buying is not urgent, choosing a slower delivery lets you group orders, cut packaging and, without Prime, reach free delivery. The useful question is not "how long does it take?" but "when do I need it by?". Many rushed purchases are rushed only because the fast option was there.
Is Prime worth it for speed alone?
It depends on how many times a year you need something from one day to the next. If it is once a month or more, the subscription is justified by convenience. If it is twice a year, it is not. There is a middle way many people do not know about: taking a single month when you know you are going to place many orders.
We compare the two in Prime monthly or annual and the general sums are in whether Amazon Prime is worth it.
The free trial for a month of many orders
If you have never had Prime, the 30-day trial covers deliveries in that period. It makes sense to switch it on when you have several purchases planned: a move, the start of term or the weeks before Christmas. That way you check with your own orders what real times you get at your address, which is the one fact no guide can give you.
Before ordering something urgent
- Is the selected address the right one?
- Is the delivery date earlier than the day you need it, with a day to spare?
- Who ships the product?
- Will someone be there to receive it, or is a pickup point better?
- Are you within the cut-off time shown on the page?
Common mistakes
- Looking at the delivery date with an address that is not the delivery address.
- Assuming everything sold on Amazon.es arrives in a day.
- Ordering a present the day before in the middle of the Christmas rush.
- Putting something urgent and something that takes a week in the same parcel.
- Not being at home and not having chosen a pickup point.
What this guide cannot tell you
We cannot give you the exact time for a product at your address: only its page shows that at the moment of buying. The general facts on this page come from Amazon's June 2025 announcement and may change. Use them to understand how the system works and always confirm the specific date before you pay. The Amazon Prime guide gathers the rest of the benefits and the link to the trial.
